What does this mean?

This are my own ways of explanation, for legal advice ask a lawyer!

May I integrate MediSnap with my own software that I sell / redistribute?

If your software is also GPLv3 licensed, yes!
If your software is not free, then you may integrate MediSnap using its GDT-Interface. You are not allowed to integrate it in any other way into your system.
If you use MediSnap over its GDT Interface, you may redistribute and advertise your own product together with MediSnap. You can also sell bundled versions that include MediSnap pre-configured and installed for your product.
If you want to integrate MediSnap in a different way in your product, you have two options:
1. publish your product under the GPLv3 license
2. change or add a new interface to MediSnap which you publish under the GPLv3 license (best would be to send the patch to me), and then you can combine your closed source product using the new interface of medisnap.

Do I have to pay for MediSnap?

No, there are no costs, no fees, no service charges, nothing.
Well, the only thing that costs are the camera drivers from olympus which are not under the GPLv3 license.

Are there any restrictions on using MediSnap?

You can do what ever you want with MediSnap, except if you redistribute MediSnap (that means if someone else gets a copy of MediSnap from you), in which case you have to obeye the GPLv3 license.
